MediaTek Inc. to license UbiNetics WCDMA protocol software

Leading Taiwanese semiconductor player to use UbiNetics technology in volume 3G phone designs

February 10, 2005 --UbiNetics, the world leader in WCDMA and HSDPA terminal and test and measurement technology, has licensed its WCDMA Protocol Software to one of Taiwan’s leading fabless semiconductor companies. The deal confirms UbiNetics as the leading 3G technology ‘provider of choice’ for chipset and handset manufacturers.

Under the terms of the agreement, UbiNetics will supply its WCDMA protocol software which MediaTek will incorporate into its forthcoming designs for 3G mobile phones. The WCDMA protocol stack, the software responsible for managing communications between the phone and the network, is one of the key components of any 3G solution, and the effectiveness of the protocol software has a profound effect on the overall performance of the handset.
