Faraday Supplies ASICs for StorLink Semiconductors' SoCs for Home Storage Gateway/Router Systems
HSINCHU Taiwan and SUNNYVALE CA, Feb. 16, 2005 -- Faraday Technology Corporation (TAIEX: 3035), a leading fabless ASIC and IP company, today announced its ASIC service client StorLink Semiconductors, Inc. has successfully produced its first generation chip Centroid™ targeting the home storage router/gateway market using Faraday's 0.18µm ARM-based FA526 CPU ASIC platform technology. The SoC is in volume production now.
“Faraday firmly believes that the embedded CPU system design technology shall dominate the System-on-a Chip (SoC) design market,” said Dr. George Huang, Vice President of R &D and Marketing at Faraday. “ Our embedded 32-bit FA526 CPU platform has proven itself a solution of choice for clients who target the complex SoC market. The success of the project is yet another milestone that shows our continuous commitment towards SoC. Currently, we are working with our client to develop the next generation 0.13µm SoC with dual CPU cores and clock rates up to 333MHz. Without doubt, Faraday's continuous efforts have elevated its embedded system design capabilities to equal any major design service firms in the world.”
Faraday's full ASIC service methodology fulfills StorLink's design requirements, including detailed spec discussion, SoC design & integration, tape-out, full system test, and volume production. Currently, Faraday is developing several other projects including Multimedia IP Cam, DSC and Audio Player ICs.
“Faraday has played a key role in the success of the Centroid™ SoC" said Dr. Stewart Wu, President/CEO of StorLink Semiconductors, Inc. "Faraday's CPU-based ASIC expertise and engineering service have helped us getting our product to market faster. They allow us to help our customers to quickly realize the benefits of Centroid™ SoC.”
