Nordic Semiconductor launches an Ultra-low Power 2.4GHz Transceiver Embedded with Dynastream's ANT Protocol for Wireless Personal Area Networks (PAN)
The nRF24AP1 embeds Dynastream Innovations Inc.'s production-proven ANT wireless protocol with Nordic's 2.4GHz RF transceiver. The nRF24AP1 is a complete drop-in, wireless personal area network (PAN) solution that eliminates the need for 3rd party protocol stacks and the responsibility and cost of acceptance testing for interest group certification. The nRF24AP1, with embedded ANT, is the ultimate solution for customers requiring real-time wireless data transmission in an environment constrained by ultra-low power, small physical size, and total system cost.
The nRF24AP1 targets product applications in the sport/recreation, medical, industrial and other emerging wireless application marketplaces.
"Dynastream Innovations' groundbreaking ANT protocol embedded with our world leading low power radio has enabled an extremely competitive solution for customers in many segments previously unaddressed. We can now offer an optimal product including protocol to ensure minimum time from idea to complete product" says Svenn-Tore Larsen, CEO for Nordic Semiconductor
"Nordic's chip brings the advantages of ANT to a whole new level," says James Fujimoto, ANT Product Manager for Dynastream Innovations. "Our relationship marks a significant step toward bringing awareness of ANT into new markets and delivering a unique solution to our mutual customers."
Availability and pricing
Samples of the nRF24AP1 will be available April 2005, with volume production scheduled for end Q2 2005. The nRF24AP1 is priced competitively at USD3.95 in quantities of 10K.
