Accelerated Technology Offers Complete Embedded Solution for Users of Freescale's MPC5200
MOBILE, Ala., Feb. 22, 2005 -Accelerated Technology®, a Mentor Graphics division, today announced full embedded software support for the Freescale Semiconductor MPC5200 processor. Using the Nucleus® Real-Time Operating System (RTOS), Microtec® C and C++ compilation tools and the XRAY® Debugger, embedded developers now have a complete single-vendor software solution in which to build and compile their networking, industrial control and automotive applications.
Utilizing a PowerPC® 603e core with an integrated Floating Point Unit (FPU), the 400MHz, 760 MIPS MPC5200 processor combines low power, high performance and a broad range of input/output (I/O) in a single, cost-effective package. The Nucleus RTOS, integrated with the MPC5200 processor, provides a customized and solid foundation from which PowerPC processor developers can build applications including network gateway and access storage, automotive, Internet access, industrial automation, image detection/analysis and electronic/healthcare-related devices.
The Nucleus PLUS real-time kernel, the foundation for the Nucleus family of products, is highly scalable and contains a small memory footprint. The kernel provides efficient, high-performance task management, inter-task communication, inter-task synchronization and component query features. The Nucleus C++ BASE application programming interface (API), the Nucleus NET TCP/IP protocol stack and the Nucleus SHELL command line interface are also available for developers using the MPC5200 processor. A board support package for the MPC5200-based Lite5200 board from Freescale is available now. The initial board support package supports the MPC5200 processor's on-chip Ethernet and Controller Area Network (CAN) interfaces.
Accelerated Technology's XRAY debugger provides powerful debugging capabilities with a consistent feature-set and user interface for all popular development hosts. In addition to supporting both Windows and Unix hosts, the XRAY debugger has a wide range of product features that help speed development time for embedded software engineers. These include support for multiple execution environments, from instruction set simulation through co-verification and on-chip debugging. Comprehensive RTOS-awareness for the Nucleus RTOS allows users to focus on per-task behavior of their system.
The Microtec cross-compiler, assembler and linker complete the solution that supports the MPC5200 processor. This highly optimizing compiler, with its new Dynamic Variant Support (DVS), helps developers take advantage of Freescale chip variants as they are released.
"The feature-rich, price performance of the Freescale MPC5200 processor is proving to be one of the most popular processors for cutting-edge embedded applications," said Robert Day, director of marketing, Embedded Systems Division, Mentor Graphics. "Supporting the processor with our robust Nucleus RTOS and embedded tools gives customers the ability to successfully push their embedded designs through the full development cycle in order to more quickly meet market requirements."
Pricing and Availability
Available now, licenses for the Nucleus software start at U.S. $12,495. Licenses for the XRAY Debugger start at $2,495 and licenses for the Microtec compiler begin at $2,400. For more information, please contact Accelerated Technology at 800-468-6853.
