Faraday Technology Appoints Christopher Moezzi as New Vice President of Business Development
SUNNYVALE, California, and HSINCHU, Taiwan – February 25th, 2005 -- Faraday Technology Corporation (TAIEX: 3035), a leading provider of ASIC design services and silicon IP, today announced the appointment of Christopher Moezzi as Vice President of Business Development. Mr. Moezzi will be leading Faraday's effort into network communication, leveraging the company's Structured ASIC and Serdes technologies as PCI-Express blurs the boundary between computer, communication, and consumer products. Chris will assume his duties at Faraday's US operation in Sunnyvale , CA .
Indeed, the communications industry is on the verge of a major paradigm shift, away from proprietary interfaces and fabrics into PCI-Express based solutions. As volume escalates, especially in the access market, cost is expected to decline dramatically, making FPGA solutions less viable. Faraday sees this as a golden opportunity to leverage its expertise in PCI interfaces, competitive cost structure, and Structured ASIC technology to enter the network communications market, a market which it has not focused on before.
"Faraday is extremely pleased that Chris has joined us", said Charlie Hauck , General Manager of Faraday USA . "Chris has the proven ability to launch groundbreaking new products, close major design wins, and has big plans to drive Faraday's structured ASIC and high-speed IO technologies into new accounts."
"We are delighted to have Chris join the company", said H.P. Lin, President and CEO of Faraday Technology. "With his extensive experience and breadth of knowledge in the communications semiconductor industry, he is a key addition to the executive team as Faraday seeks to expand globally."
Moezzi has 16 years of experience in business development, product marketing, and R&D of semiconductor and communication system markets. Prior to joining Faraday Technology, Moezzi was Sr. Director of Strategic Marketing at Conexant/Globespan (NASDAQ: CNXT ). At Globespan, Mr. Moezzi launched the company's first 10M gate DSL aggregation SoC NPU and associated DSLAM reference design, while he successfully integrated multiple semiconductor and software technology acquisitions into a cohesive product line. Prior to Globespan, he was Director of marketing and business development at T-sqware, a pioneer NPU company. Mr. Moezzi has also held marketing and engineering positions at Lucent Technologies, 3Com and Apple Computers.
Moezzi holds an M.B.A. from Northeastern University , an M.S.E.E from Southern Methodist University, and a B.S.E.E. from Sharif University of Technology.
"Faraday has the right mix of cost structure, technology and foundry relationships to be the premier ASIC outsourcing partner for semiconductor and OEM customers, particularly in communications where volumes are growing, while ASP's continue to drop" said Christopher Moezzi Vice President of Business Development at Faraday. ”My goal is to enhance Faraday's market position from a consumer electronics giant into a communication semiconductor powerhouse".
