ARC International Appoints Consumer Marketing Executive to Drive the Company's Multimedia Programs
Dan Davis to Drive ARC's Penetration into Tier 1 OEM Accounts through Multimedia Technology
SAN JOSE, Calif., March 28, 2005 - ARC International (LSE: ARK), the world leader in configurable CPU/DSP processor cores and application subsystems, today announced that Dan Davis has joined ARC as marketing director for multimedia solutions. Davis' initial charter is to extend the benefits of ARC's configurable technology to companies developing highly differentiated semiconductor products for high-growth consumer products such as set-top boxes, PVRs, DVD players/recorders, portable media players, camcorders and smart phones. Furthermore, Davis will help drive ARC's application-specific subsystem strategy and help ensure that future configurable subsystems from ARC target key market opportunities throughout the global semiconductor industry.
Dan Davis comes to ARC International from ARM Ltd. where he led their North American consumer entertainment division. Prior to his tenure at ARM, Davis directed the multimedia and broadband product lines for Texas Instruments and held key graphics/video business development roles for Cirrus Logic and ST Microelectronics.
"Consumer silicon providers are having a difficult time shoehorning fixed instruction set CPUs into the demanding role of programmable application processor. Complex system requirements are better achieved by relying on pre-verified, configurable and extendible multimedia subsystems, especially when cost, battery life and time to market are key," said Davis. "ARC is removing our customers' next-generation design challenges by integrating critical technologies into application-specific subsystems. Now designers can get to market more quickly and lower overall cost of ownership using our pre-verified technology, such as the ARCsound audio subsystem. I look forward to being a part of the ARC team that is bringing much needed change to the global semiconductor industry."
"Dan Davis is yet another industry leader to join ARC's ranks," said Derek Meyer, vice president of marketing at ARC International. "Dan's experience in marketing semiconductor technology to developers of consumer products and his passion for multimedia will help extend ARC's momentum into the coming years. We are very pleased to have Dan join the ARC team and look forward to leveraging his enthusiasm and knowledge to the benefit of our company and the industry."
