Nanjing Windorise Technology Co., Ltd. was founded in late 2018 and is located in the Industrial Technology Research and Innovation Park of the National New Area in Nanjing. The company is dedicated to product development in the fields of high-performance artificial intelligence (AI) processor IP, AI chips, accelerator boards, and intelligent system solutions. It has deep R&D accumulations in AI training/inference accelerator design, video compression, visual enhancement, object detection, face recognition, etc.
Windorise Technology is led by Dr. Zhongfeng Wang (IEEE Fellow), a world-recognized expert on VLSI for Signal Processing area. The company’s core team members include several international scholars and technical experts from large enterprises. Its technical research and development receive strong support from the research teams of several top international universities, among which the Laboratory of Integrated Circuits and Intelligent Systems at Nanjing University is one of the most important partners. The lab has a team of more than 100 researchers, and in recent years it has made many technical breakthroughs in hardware design for AI and won nearly ten national and international competition awards, especially the four best paper awards achieved within 18 months at the IEEE flagship conferences related to integrated circuit design.
Since its opening in early 2019, the company has been developing rapidly and operating well, with nearly 50 patents applied for and over 20 patents granted. The company has won many prestigious honors and awards such as "Top Experts in Science and Technology Clustering Program (Class A) of Nanjing", KPMG’s "Chip Technology" Top 50 Emerging Companies in China (2020), Nanjing Cultivating Unicorn Enterprise (2021), and National High-Tech Enterprise (2021).
In 2019, the company exclusively launched a high energy-efficiency and reconfigurable hardware architecture for high-performance intelligent computing, overcoming the difficulty of balancing versatility and high performance in the field of AI chip design. In 2020, the company developed the first hardware accelerator IP for deep neural networks with arbitrary sparsity (i.e., the sparsity with random patterns), which significantly improves the energy efficiency of AI inference through software and hardware co-design. The developed IP is programmable, reconfigurable, scalable, and has high energy-efficiency, which is significantly superior to its counterparts. It can effectively support various common neural network models, including ResNet, VGG, MobileNet, and YOLO. The developed products and system solutions are targeted to serve scientific research institutes, leading enterprises, new Infrastructure fields, as well as customers in finance, security, transportation, and other areas.
