D&R Announces Design-Reuse.com Database Snapshot Capture Service for restricted firewall environments
January 16, 2013 -- Design & Reuse (D&R)'s web portal, www.Design-Reuse.com, has long been known as the "go-to" source for the latest news and information in the area of electronic intellectual property and electronic design.
This information has high value for many players:
- SoC project managers trying to decide whether they should use 3rd Party or internally developed IP
- Designers and design managers who need to be aware of the latest "state of the art" when planning their next design project
- Electronic system houses focusing on specific market segments who need to identify intellectual property in their target segments
- Investors and business development departments who are always searching for the next "hot" intellectual property
Over the past 15 years, D&R has found many companies have firewalls that prohibit access to the external Internet. This type of setup is common with defense contractors, and for good reason, However, such firewall arrangements make it difficult for designers at these companies to access the latest and greatest information on IP available on Design-Reuse.com.
To address this problem, D&R is introducing a new "Design-Reuse.com Snapshot Capture" service. With this service, intranet managers can capture a snapshot of the Design-Reuse.com web portal's product information database and publish it to their intranets using a single command. Customizable Search and Compare mechanisms are included to help make IP selection easy.
The captured information covers all of the following areas:
- Silicon IP
- Verification IP
- IP Subsystems
- IP based platforms
According to D&R CEO Gabriele Saucier, "The target customers for this new service are designers who cannot access the Internet from within their environments and for whom having to leave their place of work and going home to access www.design-reuse.com content is just not acceptable. These designers demand the ability to access the information on the latest products and developments available on the Design-Reuse.com website in a seamless manner from within their work environments for best efficiency."
Availability, Support and Pricing
The "Design-Reuse.com Snapshot Capture" service is available now and is supported on standard operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix) and machine/server types. Pricing is based on update frequency--daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly.
Additional supplemental services are also available from D&R to provide access control for the captured information. These include integration with corporate authentication systems and installation of Single Sign On mechanisms.
