BEDFORD, Mass. – June 2, 2005 – At SuperComm 2005 next week in Chicago, Aware, Inc. (NASDAQ: AWRE), a worldwide leader and innovator of broadband intellectual property, today announced that it will showcase several new products and technologies, which enable service providers to maximize bandwidth for delivery of video-over-DSL, in its booth (#14046) as well as in Telecommunications Magazine's Top 10 Hottest Technologies Pavilion (#82015O). Highlights include the new StratiPHY3™ VDSL2 intellectual property (IP) offering, a video-over-Bonded ADSL2+ demonstration using Aware’s StratiPHY-Bonded™ technology, a voice-over-IP (VoIP) demonstration using Symmetrical ADSL2 Annex M DSL for business applications, and Dr. DSL® advanced diagnostic software.
“Carriers looking to maximize their existing copper infrastructure have several choices, including ADSL2+, Bonded ADSL2+, and VDSL2, to deliver advanced services directly to the customer premises,” commented Peter LeBlanc, Aware’s vice president of marketing. “At SuperComm, Aware will feature the various access technology options available with its StratiPHY family of products, which includes the field-proven StratiPHY2+, new StratiPHY-Bonded, Symmetrical ADSL2+ Annex M, and StratiPHY3 for VDSL2. Attendees will also get a first-hand look at a new, exciting demonstration of multiple channels of high-definition video streamed over two ADSL2+ bonded pairs.”
StratiPHY3: Aware will showcase its StratiPHY3 high-performance platform specifically designed for the recently consented VDSL2 standard. StratiPHY3 is a complete physical instantiation of Aware's DSL intellectual property in the form of a single digital chip and can be software configured to operate in central office (CO) or customer premise equipment (CPE). It is fully compliant with all ADSL, ADSL2/2+, VDSL and VDSL2 features and functionality, including long-reach VDSL2 mode, and is the latest addition to the StratiPHY™ line of fully functional, manufacturable silicon IP offerings from Aware.
“DSL has become an essential and ubiquitous interface for broadband access equipment. StratiPHY3 is ideally positioned to allow silicon providers to combine Aware’s IP with the strength and diversity of their existing silicon product offerings to dramatically expand their market and revenue opportunities, drastically reduce time-to-market with standard-compliant VDSL2 chips, and create entirely new market opportunities, such as triple-play, that traditional chipset providers cannot address,” said Luke Smithwick, Aware’s vice president of business development. “Building on the success of our StratiPHY2+ CPE solution, which has shipped more than one million ADSL2+ ports worldwide, Aware’s StratiPHY3 is the industry’s most advanced solution for silicon manufacturers looking to interoperate with legacy ADSL and ADSL2/2+ while also supporting new VDSL2 deployments.”
Bonded ADSL2+: StratiPHY-Bonded, a new addition to Aware’s StratiPHY product family, enables DSL equipment to electronically “bond” together ADSL2+ links using multiple copper phone lines that can then be used to dramatically increase the bandwidth provisioned to subscribers via a single ATM data stream. The StratiPHY-Bonded demonstration will show multiple channels of high-definition video over two pairs of ADSL2+ lines. StratiPHY-Bonded will also be featured in the Telecommunications Magazine's Top 10 Hottest Technologies Pavilion at SuperComm (Booth #82015O).
Symmetrical ADSL2+ Annex M: Aware will demonstrate multiple voice-over-IP connections over Symmetrical ADSL2+ Annex M link in its booth. Aware’s Symmetrical ADSL2+ is fully compliant with the G.992.5 ADSL2+ Annex “M” ITU standard and can significantly increase upstream bandwidth enabling service providers to deliver value-added business services such as carrier-class voice-over-IP.
Dr. DSL Advanced Diagnostic Software: Another highlight of the Aware booth is its Dr. DSL diagnostics software, including Technician Dr. DSL for outside plant technicians and the Dr. DSL Integration Platform, which makes it easy for vendors to integrate single- and dual-ended line testing (SELT and DELT) diagnostics into element management systems or operations support systems. Aware is introducing version 2.0 of its Technician Dr. DSL field test software. New in this release is Dr. DSL's Quick Test display that provides key physical and IP/ATM layer analysis on one page, eliminating the need for technicians to drill down through multiple menus. Dr. DSL's SmartRx™ calculates the severity of problems and highlights each in red, green or yellow for easy analysis. Technician Dr. DSL 2.0 also adds customizable service-level qualification that provides technicians with a simple "go / no-go" decision for a carrier's service offerings.
