Infineon Technologies Licenses MIPS Technologies 64-Bit Core For Use In Next Generation IADs And LAN Switching System-On-a-Chip Solutions

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. and MUNICH, Germany (November 9, 2000) - Infineon Technologies AG (FSE/NYSE: IFX), one of the world's leading providers of communications integrated circuits (ICs), and MIPS Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: MIPS, MIPSB) a leading provider of industry standard processor architectures and cores for digital consumer and network applications, today announced that Infineon is licensing the MIPS64? 5Kc? processor core for use in next generation integrated access devices (IADs) and specialized local area network (LAN) switching applications.

Infineon will license both the MIPS64 5Kc processor core and a MIPS64 5Kc-based subsystem, which will be integrated into Infineon's powerful system-on-chip (SoC) solutions. Infineon chose the 5Kc core based on its recognition as a de-facto standard in the 64-bit communication processor market.
