Significant Power Management Patent Granted to O2Micro(R)
SANTA CLARA, Calif. & GEORGE TOWN, Grand Cayman -- Dec. 29, 2005 -- O2Micro(R) International Limited (NASDAQ:OIIM), a leading supplier of innovative power management, and security components and systems for the Computer, Consumer, Industrial, and Communications markets, was granted 37 claims under United States patent number 6,965,221 for its Direct Current to Direct Current (DC/DC) converter Controller.
This patent describes an IC design concept called "Constant Ripple Current" technology that brings the highest possible efficiency to portable electronic devices under light and heavy load conditions. This innovation reduces design time and enables cost-effective power supplies for today's microprocessor and peripheral chips. Portable electronic devices include notebook computer, cell phone, PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), PMP (Portable Media Player) and MP3 player applications.
