Silicon Image Unveils New Branding System
Product Portfolio Reorganized Under Sub-Brands SteelVine, VastLane and PinnaClear; New Silicon Image Logo Introduced
SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 9, 2006 -- Silicon Image, Inc., a leader in semiconductors for the secure storage, distribution and presentation of high-definition content, today unveiled a new branding system that updates the company's look and feel, reorganizes its product portfolio under three sub-brands -- SteelVine, VastLane and PinnaClear and addresses its vision for the future: driving the architecture enabling the personal digital domain.
The branding initiative comes as the company extends its reach beyond the engineering community to communicate directly with consumers, consumer electronics (CE) dealers and non-technical media. The reorganization of Silicon Image's product portfolio also reflects the convergence of the company's CE and PC product lines and the emergence of High-Definition Multimedia Interface(TM) (HDMI(TM)) as the interface of choice for high definition CE and PC connectivity. "With Silicon Image playing a growing leadership role in the consumer electronics and PC industries, our brands must connect with broader audiences and better reflect our strategic vision," said Steve Tirado, president and CEO of Silicon Image. "As the world goes digital, our brands enable simple, affordable and interoperable ways to access premium digital content in the personal digital domain -- the networked world in which consumers store, access and view their video and audio content." Silicon Image's brand strategy is to move from a "house of brands" that emphasized individual brands such as PanelLink Cinema (PLC) to a "master brand" strategy with the primary focus on Silicon Image. SteelVine, VastLane and PinnaClear are now sub-brands of Silicon Image, which has been elevated to the company's primary or master brand. The new corporate logo features a bold type-faced Silicon Image, accented with an icon that symbolizes a chip, display or TV. The logos for SteelVine, VastLane and PinnaClear each feature "Silicon Image" in larger type with the sub-brand name featured below it in smaller type. The change in branding also reflects an evolution within Silicon Image's marketing strategy to eliminate barriers between individual lines of business. This shift, which began in the second half of 2005, was reflected in January when Dale Zimmerman was named vice president of world-wide marketing, a newly- created position spanning all Silicon Image businesses. Silicon Image products have been organized under the new sub-brands as follows:
Previously, Silicon Image organized its product line under the categories Consumer Electronics, PCs and Displays, and Storage.
