SigmaTel Powers Konica Minolta Magicolor 2480 MF Color Laser All-In-One SystemAUSTIN, Texas--May 30, 2006--SigmaTel Inc. (NASDAQ:SGTL), a leader in mixed-signal multimedia semiconductors, today announced that its STDC2040 System-on-Chip (SoC) chip is powering the Konica Minolta magicolor 2480 MF color laser All-In-One (AIO) system that features print, copy, scan, and camera-direct photo print functions. SigmaTel is a leading merchant provider of semiconductor-based solutions to the AIO market, with the STDC2040 representing its fourth-generation device for this market. This product is being shown to SigmaTel customers attending the annual Computex consumer electronics trade show in Taipei this week. The worldwide installed base of color-laser AIOs or Multi-Function Peripherals (MFPs) is expected to grow at a 55 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2004 to 2009, according to a recent report issued by Lyra Research, Inc. SigmaTel's MFP controller SoCs significantly reduce production and development costs for manufacturers and provide space and cost saving benefits for small office/home office (SOHO) market users while providing high image quality for printing and copying. "SigmaTel offers the 'all-in-one' solutions as we combine the silicon, hardware reference design, firmware development kits, and PC software drivers that substantially provide all of the MFP's electronic processing functionality," said Steve Beatty, senior vice president of SigmaTel's Integrated Components Group. "Our recently announced SoC solution, the STDC3000 for color laser MFPs, further expands the STDC2040's functionality and has significant design-in momentum with customers worldwide." SigmaTel will demonstrate and display more than 20 diverse applications using its silicon solutions to customers attending the Computex consumer trade show in Taiwan in early June. In addition to the Konica Minolta magicolor 2480 MF and a STDC3000 demo, SigmaTel will showcase multiple MP3 personal media players, Sony's VAIO(R) Digital Reality(TM) PC home theater system, notebook computers with HD Audio and built-in digital microphones, digital TV audio tuners, digital cameras, and digital photo frames.
