MOSAID Maestro Digital Frequency Synthesizer PLL Used in WiQuest Ultra-wideband ICTrue fractional PLL enables cost effective UWB interface Santa Clara, California – June 7, 2006 - MOSAID Technologies (TSX: MSD), and WiQuest Communications Inc., today announced the successful deployment of an ultra-wideband (UWB) chip incorporating MOSAID Maestro™ fractional PLL technology. This system-on-a-chip is a complete UWB MAC and PHY. The chip was designed for high-volume PC and consumer applications and is currently sampling with customers. WiQuest selected the MOSAID Maestro DFS PLL as part of a strategy to produce the lowest power and highest performance UWB IC which fully supports the Certified Wireless USB standard. "We are very happy with the performance of the PLL to help reduce power and generate accurate critical clocks for our chip's radio and MAC circuits," said Greg Christison, WiQuest Vice President of Engineering. "The wide frequency range and fractional multiplication of the PLL made it very easy to use." "WiQuest's focus on high bandwidth at low power is key to bringing a commercially viable UWB technology to video and wireless USB applications," said Peter Gillingham, VP and GM, MOSAID Intellectual Property Division. "Our cutting-edge low-power fractional PLL moves UWB a giant step closer to reality for these demanding consumer applications." About MOSAID Maestro PLLs About WiQuest Communications About MOSAID
