Aquantia Picks Tharas Systems' Hammer (R) MX Hardware Accelerator To Speed Up VerificationHammer Delivers 900X Acceleration in Record Time SANTA CLARA, California –August 15, 2006 — Tharas Systems, Inc., a leading provider of high-performance, hardware-assisted verification solutions announced today that Aquantia Corp, a leading innovator in 10GBASE-T ICs has selected Hammer MX to accelerate its functional verification. "In order to simulate our chip’s functionality in its entirety, it would take a long time on a software simulator using the fastest Linux workstation. We were impressed that Tharas in as little as 3 days demonstrated in excess of 900 times speed up over software simulator, with absolutely no change to our verification methodology," said Ramin Shirani, VP of Engineering at Aquantia. "Aquantia is driving 10GBASE-T based copper interconnect chip technology. Their highly sophisticated DSP algorithms are exceptionally compute-intensive and software simulators simply cannot handle such high activity simulations. The Hammer SX and Hammer MX family of hardware accelerators have been expressly designed to handle such intense verification tasks – while at the same time offering an outstanding value at a compelling price/performance point," said Rahm Shastry, president & CEO of Tharas Systems. "We are pleased to be part of Aquantia’s verification flow." About Tharas SystemsTharas Systems develops and markets design verification solutions that lead to a significant shortening of the overall verification cycle of complex integrated circuits and electronic systems design. The pay-off is a demonstrable reduction in time-to-market due to enhanced verification productivity. The recently introduced Hammer SX and Hammer MX products incorporate a patented, multi-core, custom-processor hardware assisted verification engine developed by Tharas that works in conjunction with popular Verilog and VHDL-based software simulators from Synopsys (NASDAQ – SNPS), Cadence Design (NYSE- CDN), and Mentor Graphics (NASDAQ – MENT). The Hammer solution delivers fast compile and accelerated performance without sacrificing ease-of-use and debugging capabilities. Customer installations span the computers, communications, networking, graphics and the video industries. Founded in 1998, Tharas is privately held with corporate headquarters located in Santa Clara, California, and regional sales and support offices in North America and Japan. Tharas products are distributed through channel partners in Europe, India and Korea. For more information, see the company website, http://www.tharas.com. About AquantiaAquantia is developing physical layer transceiver ICs for 10GE over copper, 10GBASE-T. Demand for 10GE in the data center is growing, with the preferred cabling solution being the familiar UTP with RJ45 connectors. IEEE has ratified the 802.3an standard for 10GBASE-T, and the market is eagerly anticipating this low-cost solution. Aquantia possesses a unique depth of experience in communications with solid backing from the venture capital community. Aquantia combines these ingredients with innovative technology to deliver solutions for the emerging 10GBASE-T market that meet the market’s requirements. Aquantia is privately held and is located in Silicon Valley. For more information, see http://www.aquantia.com.
