QED Processors and Accelerated Technology RTOS Deliver Optimized Embedded Development Solution
MOBILE, Ala.-- July 17, 2000-- Accelerated Technology, Inc. (ATI), the leader of source code and non-royalty based Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) software, and Quantum Effect Devices, Inc. (QED) (Nasdaq: QEDI), a leading provider of high-performance, cost-effective MIPS(R) RISC embedded microprocessor solutions, today announced a joint-development agreement. QED (http://www.qedinc.com) and Accelerated Technology (http://www.atinucleus.com) will provide customers in the communications, networking, printer and digital imaging markets with a high-performance development environment for embedded applications. The key to this new partnership is the advancement of ATI's Nucleus PLUS embedded software which now offers support for QED's series of MIPS RISC processors. This support for QED processors provides embedded developers with a comprehensive hardware and software solution which can greatly reduce product development time and costs. Nucleus PLUS is a flexible and scalable real-time kernel with a small footprint complemented by Nucleus NET, a fast, reliable and compliant TCP/IP protocol networking stack. Accelerated Technology supplies a complete RTOS including prototyping tools, a portable graphics package, development tools, and system analysis tools. Accelerated Technology also provides source code with all of its embedded software products. Companies that purchase Accelerated Technology's embedded Nucleus software are not subject to per-unit royalty fees, allowing them to take advantage of all the RTOS features without paying royalties. -- "The combined forces of Accelerated Technology and QED provide a significant advantage for developers of embedded products. By combining the pen source code, no royalty model of ATI with QED's high performance RISC processors, developers can design all of the features they need for their specific applications while significantly reducing design turnaround time and development cost," said Michelle Anderson, vice president of marketing from Accelerated Technology, Inc. -- "ATI and QED share a large cross-section of customers designing a variety of leading-edge technologies including set-top boxes, networking devices, printers and cellular phones. ATI's optimization of their Nucleus Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) software for QED processors provides a significant time-to-market advantage for these customers by delivering a proven hardware and software solution," stated Andy Keane, vice president of marketing for QED.
