OCP-IP Announces Six New Members
PORTLAND, OR — December 05, 2006 — Open Core Protocol International Partnership (OCP-IP) today announced six new members: AerieLogic, Arasan, Inicore, Motorola, Regulus, and Silicon Valley PA, Inc. (SVPA). The breadth of technologies represented by the new members illustrates the combined industry-wide acceptance and adoption of the OCP standard.
AerieLogic is a French-based formal verification company created in August 2005 by a team with significant experience and research in formal verification and assertion-based verification (ABV). They offer robust state-of-the-art OEM products for integration by third-party EDA or CAD companies. AerieLogic's formal verification products include imPROVE-HPK/HDL and the (OCP) Hardware Protocol Kit. The company also provides services in the domain of ABV. AerieLogic's ABV tools help design teams verify designs and enable them to enhance their design verification flows with an advanced assertion-based methodology. Arasan Chip Systems is a leading provider of reusable intellectual property (IP) cores for the electronic design community offering an extensive portfolio of mobile storage and connectivity IP. The company provides high quality, cost effective, technology-independent, reusable IP cores and associated design services to computer, consumer, communications, medical/industrial, aerospace and automotive markets. Arasan is a global company with its headquarters in Silicon Valley and offices in India, Japan, Europe and Asia. With 110 employees worldwide, the company’s engineering team is focused on the entire spectrum of chip design. Inicore Inc. is an experienced system design house and IP core provider. The company supplies pre-verified, technology neutral, and reusable IP cores for a wide range of target markets from consumer goods to networks and aerospace. The IP cores are complemented by comprehensive design service offerings including: FPGA and ASIC turn-key solutions, embedded system design, IP core design and integration, consulting services, and ASIC to FPGA migration service. Leveraging their broad IP know-how and application-specific expertise, Inicore guides customers through the entire design flow from concept to final products. Motorola is a global leader in wireless and broadband communications, committed to helping users get and stay connected simply and seamlessly to the people, information, and entertainment they want and need. A Fortune 100 company, Motorola designs and delivers "must have" products, "must do" experiences and powerful networks -- along with a full complement of support services. Utilizing the advantage of IP-reuse possible with OCP further enables Motorola to shorten design cycles and bring mobile devices to market faster. Based in Tokyo, Japan, Regulus provides the newest design and development environment solutions for electronics customers. Regulus’ philosophy is based in part on the fact that U.S. companies have traditionally owned advanced design technology and often developed new technology earlier than Japanese domestic companies. However, with software technology, Indian and Chinese companies are beginning to emerge as technology leaders. They provide customers the most suitable design and development solutions by coordinating superior domestic and foreign design/software offerings in specific technology systems. Regulus uses OCP in its ASIC solution and development. Silicon Valley PA, Inc. is an architecture and design solutions company serving the Semiconductor Industry. SVPA specializes in system-on-chip architecture, offering comprehensive design services augmented with extensive IP provider partnerships and R&D center affiliations in the US and Eastern Europe. SVPA possesses world-class expertise in on-chip interconnects and complex memory subsystems. They also offer expert OCP-related services, including OCP training and development of OCP wrappers and bridges. OCP-IP members receive free training and support, software tools, and documentation, enabling them to focus on the challenges of SoC design. Leveraging OCP-IP’s infrastructure eliminates the need to internally design, document, train and evolve a proprietary standard and accompanying support tools, freeing up critical resources for the real design work, while providing enormous cost savings. “This new group of members represents a diverse set of product offerings, and highlights the broad OCP acceptance and adoption across many markets,” said Ian Mackintosh, president OCP-IP. “We are very proud to announce and welcome our new members, and look forward to working with them in the future.” About OCP-IP The OCP International Partnership Association, Inc. (OCP-IP), formed in 2001, promotes and supports the Open Core Protocol (OCP) as the complete socket standard ensuring rapid creation and integration of interoperable virtual components. OCP-IP's Governing Steering Committee participants include: Nokia [NYSE: NOK], Texas Instruments [NYSE: TXN], Toshiba Semiconductor Group (including Toshiba America TAEC), and Sonics. OCP-IP is a non-profit corporation delivering the first fully supported, openly licensed, core-centric protocol comprehensively fulfilling system-level integration requirements. The OCP facilitates IP core reusability and reduces design time, risk, and manufacturing costs for SoC designs. VSIA endorses the OCP socket, and OCP-IP is affiliated with VSIA.
