Elliptic Responds to Customer Demand for Security Software with EllipsysUpdate: Synopsys Expands Security Solutions with Acquisition of Elliptic Technologies (June 29, 2015) OTTAWA, CANADA -- February 27, 2007 -- Security IP provider Elliptic today announced the launch of Ellipsys, a portfolio of software products targeted at designers implementing embedded system designs. Ellipsys will speed development cycles and enable security solutions that are a mix of hardware acceleration and software best suited to the end application. Ellipsys is designed to be portable across multiple operating systems such Linux, VxWorks and Windows Embedded CE and implements the most popular symmetric and asymmetric cryptographic algorithms. Today, security is part of almost every product. Security offers privacy and authentication in wireless designs such as Wi-Fi access points and WiMAX base stations, cell phones, media players and HDTV implementing digital rights management, virtual private networking appliances and storage solutions. Designers looking for mix and match, hardware and software security functions can now rely on Ellipsys. Designers can rapidly develop security-based solutions in advance of silicon with software functions which mirror the hardware accelerated functions. In addition, applications can be developed which mix key cryptographic functions that require hardware acceleration with other security functions implemented in software. The initial release of Ellipsys is divided into two different libraries which can be licensed separately or together as a bundle. The ESS-01 offers symmetric algorithms that are used in most modern cryptographic solutions including:
The asymmetric library - the ESS-02, offers a complete set of functions referred to as PCKS#1. The ESS-02 offers library function compliant to the PKCS #1 reference implementation with support for both the v1.5 (IETF RFC2437) and v2.1 (IETF RFC3447) algorithms including:
"Security design has two significant challenges - the normal time to market pressure combined with the requirement to build a product that is secure and compliant to the governing standard," said Al Hawtin, Vice-President Marketing for Elliptic. "The team at Elliptic has a proven track record in security design both in hardware and software and we look forward to the opportunity to share these skills with a much broader customer base." About Elliptic Headquartered in Ottawa, Elliptic provides semiconductor intellectual property (IP) cores and software for secure communications. Elliptic SIP cores enable system-on-chip designers to efficiently balance power, performance and silicon area in complex security-based systems. When combined with Ellipsys middleware, customers can implement a robust, standards compliant security architecture to protect their system design from compromise. Demanding customers in markets such as wireless, storage, content distribution and high performance communications trust Elliptic security solutions.
