"NetFront for DTV on Cougar" will be demonstrated at the BS digital fair sponsored by NHK, which is held at the NHK broadcasting center, Shibuya, Tokyo, starting April 29, 2000. In Japan, the BS Digital Broadcasting trial will begin with the Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, in September. It is expected that the trial period will be completed and actual service will start in December 2000. The Japan DTV market will be expanding within a couple of years to CS (communications satellite) and terrestrial services. NetFront is ACCESS' popular embedded browser with nearly 80% browser market share in Japan's information appliances market. "NetFront for DTV" can seamlessly access the Internet, allowing both BML broadcasting content and HTML Internet content to be viewed with one browser software module. "NetFront for DTV" supports various real-time operating systems used in DTV, including VxWorks. An evaluation package for the PC/Windows environment also is available. ACCESS is shipping "NetFront for DTV" now for deployment in consumer devices by the end of 2000.
