APT Announce Licensing Agreement with Sierra Automated Systems
October 2, 2007 -- Belfast -- Audio codec and coding specialist, APT, today announced a Licensing and Business Development Agreement with California-based Sierra Automated Systems (SAS). In addition to SAS licensing APT’s low delay Enhanced apt-X® algorithm, the deal will involve joint development to ensure interoperability of routing, console and codec equipment worldwide.
Stephen Wray, Business Licensing Manager for APT said, “The agreement marks the beginning of a strong strategic partnership between APT and Sierra Automated Systems. We are delighted to be working with a company who are synonymous with the best in audio routing and network design.” Wray continued, “We were approached by SAS because of our reputation for delivering low delay, professional-grade audio coding solutions, particularly in the area of audio over IP. APT’s IP audio codec range has been highly successful with many hundred units sold worldwide and the Enhanced apt-X algorithm has been proven to be particularly suited to Audio over IP solutions. Our reputation is further galvanized by the exceptional expertise of our Intellectual Property design and development team.” Howard Mullinack, Director of Strategic Development for SAS added, “Now that there’s a worldwide standard (N/ACIP) for audio over IP, SAS is moving forward to integrate this technology into our core routing for applications where it’s advantages are clear: remote broadcasts, STL, interconnection with PCs, and communications in particular. APT’s broad acceptance by our major customers helped cement the decision to forge this partnership.”
