Product Announcement: RealView Platform Baseboard for ARM11 MPCore Multiprocessor AvailableNew baseboard enables symmetric multiprocessing software development at near real time CAMBRIDGE, UK – Nov. 21, 2007 – ARM today announced the RealView® Platform Baseboard for the ARM11™ MPCore™ multiprocessor, the recommended platform for ARM® technology-based symmetric multiprocessing applications development. The usage of multiprocessor-based SoCs is rapidly growing to meet today’s processing requirement. With ever decreasing time-to-market windows, OEMs need to develop software at near real time before the final silicon is available. The hardware platform architecture and performance requirements, including access to the specific processor architecture, increase the pressure on silicon providers to deliver to their customers out-of-box ready hardware platforms suitable for early software development. The Platform Baseboard for the ARM11 MPCore multiprocessor is especially designed for symmetric multiprocessing applications development at near real time speed. It consists of a test chip ASIC containing four ARM11 MPCore multiprocessors and Level2 cache running at 200 Megahertz, and a memory system on a structured ASIC containing all the speed critical peripherals commonly seen in embedded systems running at 100 Megahertz. By attaching PCI cards, PCI Express cards or FPGA-based RealView Logic Tiles to the Platform Baseboard customers can emulate a complete multiprocessor-based SoC. The interface between the Platform Baseboard and RealView Logic Tiles uses AMBA®3 AXI™ technology, so that accesses to peripherals synthesized on the Logic Tiles are consistent with those happening in the final silicon.
