IPextreme® Brings ColdFire® Architecture to the FPGA Masses
Optimized soft version of V1 ColdFire core available to Altera® Cyclone® III FPGA customers for free through IPextreme’s online Core Store™
CAMPBELL, Calif. – June 9, 2008 – IPextreme®, Inc., the company bringing famous IP (intellectual property) to system-on-chip designers worldwide, today announced an FPGA-optimized soft version of Freescale’s V1 ColdFire® core available free of charge to Altera’s Cyclone III FPGA customers through their online Core Store™, which was launched in January this year. Core Store simplifies the IP purchasing process by allowing customers to browse and license silicon-proven IP with a few quick and easy clicks. The new V1 ColdFire core offering for Altera Cyclone® III devices joins a family of licensable Freescale ColdFire cores from IPextreme, and comes with a number of Altera-specific features:
“We see a significant pent-up demand from the market for the ColdFire architecture, which is well-known but, until recently, not available for licensing,” said Warren Savage, president and CEO of IPextreme. “The availability of a special version of the V1 ColdFire for FPGA customers provides a continuum of implementation options for customers adopting the ColdFire architecture.” A demonstration of the V1 ColdFire for Cyclone III FPGAs on an Altera reference platform will take place next week in the IPextreme booth at the Freescale Technology Forum in Orlando, Florida. License pricing and availability The V1 ColdFire core for Altera’s Cyclone III devices will be free of charge to Altera customers. Availability is planned for Q3 2008. IPextreme will directly license and support the V1 ColdFire core to Altera customers.
