CoWare Delivers Ultra High-Speed, MIPS-Verified Instruction Set Simulators for MIPS32 CoresAgreement with MIPS Technologies Enables Model Availability to Speed Development of Robust, Optimized MIPS-Based Products SAN JOSE, Calif. and MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – August 18, 2008 -- CoWare®, Inc., the leading supplier of platform-driven electronic system-level (ESL) design software and services, and MIPS Technologies, Inc. (NasdaqGS: MIPS), a leading provider of industry-standard architectures, processors and analog IP for digital consumer, home networking, wireless, communications and business applications, announced a partnership to deliver ultra high-speed MIPS-Verified™ Instruction Set Simulators (ISS) of MIPS32® cores. These models, developed with CoWare Processor Designer technology, will be verified by MIPS Technologies to achieve the MIPS-Verified label, and will be distributed by CoWare as part of its comprehensive ESL 2.0 design environment including CoWare Virtual Platform. The first available ISS is for the low-power, high-performance MIPS32® 24K® core. Using CoWare Virtual Platform, developers can develop, integrate and test their systems prior to availability of the physical hardware, and do so more efficiently with full hardware visibility and control, resulting in better products--faster. The MIPS® models fully support CoWare’s advanced software development capabilities including multi-core, synchronized debugging, advanced analysis and checkpoint/restart. Platforms and devices can be simulated at real-time speeds. The collaboration between MIPS Technologies and CoWare to achieve the MIPS-Verified label for these models provides developers with the additional guarantee of a reliable solution. The model of the 24K core is already being used by CoWare customers to speed up software development tasks such as Linux porting and application development of MIPS-Based™ platforms and devices. “CoWare’s ESL 2.0 solutions have been widely-adopted by some of our largest customers,” said Jack Browne, vice president of marketing, Processor Business Group, MIPS Technologies. “Designers benefit from these solutions by being able to optimize their system design and do software development earlier. This partnership with CoWare will enable our customers to bring optimized MIPS-based products to market faster, with the peace of mind of a MIPS-Verified model.” “MIPS Technologies powers some of the world’s most popular products for the digital consumer, broadband, wireless communications, networking and portable media markets. The MIPS-Verified models within CoWare’s ESL 2.0 environment will ease the development process for customers in these markets and beyond,” said Marc Serughetti, vice president of marketing and business development at CoWare. “This is yet another demonstration of the power of CoWare Processor Designer technology, with its ability to quickly implement ultra high-speed processor models.” Availability The MIPS32 24K processor model is available now from CoWare.
