Xilinx opens IP-resource center on its Web site
Xilinx opens IP-resource center on its Web site Xilinx Inc. (San Jose, Calif.) has introduced its IP Center, a comprehensive resource on the company's Web site that offers multiple IP solutions ranging from free reference designs, cores, DSP and PCI solutions to IP implementation tools, third-party cores, specialized system-level services and vertical-application solutions. With the opening of the site, Xilinx also announced 20 new and free reference designs available for download. It also announced that 12 more companies have joined its XPERTS consulting program. According to Xilinx, the system-level solutions area of the Xilinx IP Center offers access to comprehensive information on IP and consulting services for applications such as wireless, networking, XDSL technologies, image and video processing and computers. Technology solutions such as Xilinx DSP and Xilinx PCI also are covered in detail. The site offers a parameterizable variable-by-variable multiplier for Virtex F PGAs; a pipelined HDL multiplier module that supports signed and unsigned data; 14 fixed-point, variable-by-variable multipliers for Virtex FPGAs; and a constant-coefficient multiplier generator for Virtex FPGAs. Other reference designs on the site include a parameterizable RAM module using Virtex distributed on-chip RAM and SelectRAM; a parameterizable Delay Element module for Virtex FPGAs, utilizing the new Virtex shift-register feature, SRL16E; and two fixed-point, complex FFT modules for the XC4000X and Spartan families using Smart-IP technology for best performance. Many of these reference designs are available in HDL source code. Xilinx also said 12 new third-party consulting companies have joined the Xilinx XPERTS program, bringing the number to more than 40. Under the partnership, Lexra's LX4180 core will be available with a custom porting service by TSG. According to Lexra, the collaboration with TSG will allow Lexra to expand its offering to meet the needs of these large semiconductor companies, giving them access to Lexra's 32-bit RISC technology. TSG will be Lexra's exclusive partner for high-performance custom porting of current and future cores. According to Lexra, the initial offering of TSG will be based on the Lexra LX4180, which TSG will optimize for the customer's foundry process. The companies said the resulting core will achieve 25 percent higher performance than Lexra's own LX4180 SmoothCore hard macro, which works at 155 MHz on commercial 0.25-micron processes. The combined core and custom porting service will be jointly marketed and distributed by Lexra and TSG. Also, TSG will offer mutual customers design services for custom modifications or enhancements to the Lexra core. The serv ice is available now, through Lexra or TSG. Lead time and price will depend on the foundry process selected. Visit www.lexra.com or www.silicongroup.com.
