GSA Appoints Warren Savage as IP Interest Group Chairman
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- August 31, 2009 -- Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA), the platform for global collaboration, and IPextreme, the company bringing famous IP (intellectual property) to system-on-chip designers worldwide, announce the appointment of Warren Savage, president and chief executive officer of IPextreme, to serve as the GSA IP Interest Group Chairman. Savage was chosen for this position for his industry expertise, knowledge and immeasurable contributions in the Intellectual Property realm.
In 2003, Savage founded IPextreme focused on working with major semiconductor companies to monetize their captive IP assets. Prior to this, Savage worked for eight years in various roles at Synopsys in the area of IP and design reuse as part of its DesignWare business unit. During this time he led numerous initiatives within Synopsys’ nascent IP business as well as important technical and business initiatives with leading IP and semiconductor companies such as ARM, IBM, Infineon, Intel, NEC, MIPS, Panasonic, and Philips. From 1982-1995 he worked for Tandem Computers, where he developed an interest in advanced design methodologies around high reliability design. Savage began his career at Fairchild Semiconductor developing semiconductor test equipment. He is a well-known and published authority in the field of semiconductor intellectual property and continues to provide thought leadership and guidance in this critical field. Savage has a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Santa Clara University and an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University. "As more and more of the semiconductor industry has moved toward system-on-chip products, the exchange of intellectual property has become a key ecosystem," said Savage. "I'm enthusiastic about the role the GSA can play to bring together semiconductor companies and their suppliers to advance the best technical and business practices for the industry," he further commented. IPextreme, a GSA member since 2005, has been a strong supporter of GSA and its continuation to identify and address IP challenges and areas of growth. “We are pleased that Warren Savage will represent GSA’s interests in IP, adding his vision to GSA’s. Warren’s experience and vast knowledge will enhance GSA’s ability to assist semiconductor companies in increasing their decision making effectiveness with deliverables that will facilitate an increase in ROI,” said Lisa Tafoya, vice president of GSA.
