Crack Semiconductor Releases Performance Data For The CS256-ECC and CS1024-PKA ProcessorsMarch 2, 2010 – Crack Semiconductor's CS1024-PKA processor is able to compute both RSA-1024 and ECC-256 using optimal large-integer modular multiplication and all other required modular arithmetic functions. The CS1024-PKA offers the same RSA performance as the CS1024-RSA, delivering 59, 177 and 531 RSA 1024-bit (full-exponent) decrypts per second at 200 MHz for its 16-bit, 32-bit and 64-bit configurations, respectively. The CS1024-PKA also can perform 150, 400 and 1100 ECC-256 Point Multiply operations per second for its 16-bit, 32-bit and 64-bit configurations, respectively. The CS1024-PKA can also perform up to 512-bit ECC operations. The CS256-ECC offers the same ECC-256 performance as the CS1024-PKA, and requires less hardware resources, since it does not need to support RSA-1024 operations. Arthur Low, CTO of Crack Semiconductor observed: "Following on the heals of the release of the CS1024-RSA processor, the CS1024-PKA and CS256-ECC processors represent a new generation in PK acceleration. The very impressive performance of these processors issue from optimal implementations of large integer modular multiplication, division, addition and subtraction, and a few other functions. By implementing all operations as modular arithmetic hardware functions, the microcode load is very small, and compute performance is very much improved. This leads to incredible opportunities for further optimizations using a variety of algorithms, depending on customer requirements. We expect customers to be excited about either greatly reducing their power consumption, or improving their performance, or a mixture of both much lower power and higher performance." The CS1024-RSA, CS1024-PKA and CS256-ECC processors can be configured for performance over a 10x range, allowing the SOC designer a very practical performance versus area / power trade-off.
