Samsung Electronics Licenses Kilopass' Embedded Non-Volatile Memory Technology for its Foundry BusinessUpdate: Synopsys Expands DesignWare IP Portfolio with Acquisition of Kilopass Technology (Jan. 10, 2018) Kilopass Partners with Samsung Electronics’ Foundry Business to Offer One-Time Programmable (OTP) Memory SANTA CLARA, Calif., Mar. 15, 2010 -- Kilopass Technology, Inc., a leading provider of semiconductor logic non-volatile memory (NVM) intellectual property (IP) today announced that Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. will support Kilopass’ one-time programmable (OTP) antifuse memory, XPM™, in its foundry business’ advanced logic processes. With this licensing agreement, Samsung Foundry’s customers now have access to Kilopass’ scalable, cost-effective embedded NVM IP solutions for advanced logic processes. “Access to proven IP is extremely important as the industry moves to more advanced technologies and higher levels of SoC integration for our foundry customers,” said Jay Min, vice president, Samsung Electronics’ Foundry business. “Our strategy is to build a comprehensive partner ecosystem that supports the growing need for optimized SoC solutions. This partnership with Kilopass is one such effort. Kilopass offers critical NVM IP required in a wide spectrum of applications. We plan to expand our customer base to a diverse scope of fabless companies as well, while we are successfully expanding the partnership with our world-leading customers, including those targeting our 32/28nm HKMG logic process technology.” “We’re extremely pleased to partner with a flagship customer such as Samsung Foundry,” said Kilopass CEO Charlie Cheng. “Samsung Foundry is an established foundry supplier with deep expertise in semiconductor manufacturing. Attracting a high-caliber semiconductor manufacturer gives our customers even more supply options. It’s yet one more example of steady adoption of our OTP technology.” Due to its compact size, Kilopass’ XPM IP is uniquely suited for a rapidly growing number of small-to-medium-capacity applications that require high reliability and security. XPM is implemented in standard logic CMOS without any modifications to the foundry processing steps. Being designed with standard devices supplied by the foundry and following foundry DFM design rules has enabled faster time to market of XPM to a large variety of processes and foundries. The portability of Kilopass’ technology, coupled with streamlined porting and qualification methodology, has enabled Samsung Foundry’s customers to use Kilopass’ OTP NVM for its advanced logic processes. About Kilopass Kilopass Technology, Inc., a leading supplier of embedded NVM intellectual property, leverages standard logic CMOS processes to deliver one-time programmable (OTP) memory. With 54 patents granted and more than 500,000 wafers shipped from a dozen foundries and Integrated Device Manufacturers (IDM), Kilopass has more than 70 customers in applications ranging from storage of firmware and security codes to calibration data and other application-critical information.
