ARM Announces New RealView Multi-Core Debugger; First Product in New ARM Family of RealView ToolsCAMBRIDGE, England, March 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ARM [(LSE: ARM); (Nasdaq: ARMHY - news)], the industry's leading provider of 16/32- bit embedded RISC processor solutions, today announced at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Francisco, Calif., the launch of its new ARM® RealView(TM) multi-core debugger. The ARM RealView Debugger complements existing ARM debugging technology and gives developers the ability to use an 'OS-aware', multi-core debugger for systems based on multiple ARM cores, as well as mixed architecture designs that use an ARM core plus a DSP core. The ARM RealView Debugger is the first ever debugger to allow a truly synchronized, high-integrity debug for multiple ARM and DSP cores. It uses a single kernel for multi-core debugging and is based on Mentor Graphics' embedded technology. Operating system awareness includes Symbian, ThreadX and Nucleus. Support for additional DSPs and operating systems is planned. "The launch of our RealView Debugger marks the start of a new family of highly optimized tools for the ARM architecture. We have taken into account the complexity and intricacies of our designs and used this knowledge to develop the most advanced tools possible," said Lester Perera, product manager debug, ARM. "By enabling developers to debug multiple cores simultaneously, the RealView Debugger gives a completely accurate picture, in real-time, of the interaction within complex system-on-chip (SoC) designs that enables problems to be solved a lot faster." "We have a long-standing relationship with ARM in the development tools market and we believe that this latest product is a real breakthrough for their ARM core-based SoC developers," said Robert Day, director of marketing for the Embedded Systems Division of Mentor Graphics. "The combination of our established Mentor Graphics® embedded technology and ARM's skills and unique knowledge of its own architecture mean that the RealView Debugger offers the highest level of performance to their Partners." "Our strong partnership with ARM has been evident over many years, with Nucleus real-time operating system incorporating ARM technology for nearly a decade," said M. Kyle Craig, product marketing manager for Nucleus at Accelerated Technology, Inc. "The integration of Nucleus with the RealView Debugger means that our mutual customers will benefit from a proven solution and the most advanced Nucleus and ARM technology available to date." "Constant innovation is key to moving technology forward and ARM has demonstrated its commitment to providing high-quality solutions with the launch of the RealView Debugger," said David Lamie, COO and vice president of Sales, Express Logic. "The added value that this product will bring to ARM core-based devices that include the ThreadX operating system is that it will allow our Partners to reduce development times and costs and help them get their products to market more quickly." Availability The ARM RealView debugger is compatible with both the ARM Developer Suite(TM) software and Multi-ICE® in-circuit emulator, and will be available from ARM and its distributors in May 2002 priced at $3000. About RealView Tools RealView tools by ARM provide designers with the best solution for creating and analyzing systems based on ARM technology. ARM RealView tools are designed and used by the same creators of the ARM architecture. Because the tools are developed by the designers of the architecture, they enable the highest level of pre-silicon evaluation and development and the broadest range of support for future architecture families and derivatives. ARM RealView tools are fully integrated and provide a complete solution to any design or SoC integration challenge, giving the developer higher confidence in first silicon and a faster time-to-market. About ARM ARM is the industry's leading provider of 16/32-bit embedded RISC microprocessor solutions. The company licenses its high-performance, low-cost, power-efficient RISC processors, peripherals and system-chip designs to leading international electronics companies. ARM also provides comprehensive support required in developing a complete system. ARM's microprocessor cores are rapidly becoming a volume RISC standard in such markets as portable communications, hand-held computing, multimedia digital consumer and embedded solutions.
