Tilera and AuthenTec Team to Deliver Highest Performance, Most Efficient IPsec SolutionCompanies raise the bar on IPsec throughput and performance-per-watt while using a fraction of the TILE-Gx processor resources SAN JOSE, Calif. , March 21, 2012 – Tilera® Corporation, the leader in manycore general purpose microprocessors today announced that the AuthenTec QuickSec™ IPsec (Internet Protocol security) stack is available on the TILE-Gx36™ and TILE-Gx16™ processors, delivering over 30 gigabits-per-second (Gbps) IPsec ESP throughput. This impressive result is achieved with only 25 percent of the 36 cores engaged and demonstrates the efficiency and scale of the Tile Architecture. With 75 percent of the cores free, the customer retains a vast amount of compute to implement rich services on the TILE-Gx™ platform. Tilera’s manycore processors are being deployed across several market segments as data security concerns remain a priority for developers. The TILE-Gx processor family has been architected to enable high-performance, very low latency crypto processing with its integrated MiCA™ co-processing accelerators. The MiCA engines provide virtualized services to the TILE-Gx cores, autonomously offloading security protocols such as IPsec, SSL, TLS, DTLS, SRTP, and MACsec. The power efficiency of the TILE-Gx solution allows it to run in stringent power envelopes of less than 25 watts while delivering tens of Gigabits per second of throughput. “AuthenTec’s QuickSec security stack is demonstrating outstanding performance on the TILE-Gx processor, raising the bar for absolute throughput as well as reaching new levels of efficiency in IPsec throughput-per-watt,” said Michael Zimmerman, vice president of Marketing at Tilera. “Our customers can leverage this high-performance security solution, while conserving the bulk of the processor cores for the customer’s added-value application.” “Effective integration of security hardware and software is a notorious challenge and we are excited to team with Tilera as the market leader in multicore processor architectures,” said Dr. Simon Blake-Wilson, Vice President of AuthenTec’s Embedded Security Solutions. “Our IPsec software solutions are very well suited for multicore applications requiring very high speed, high efficiency processing, including cloud computing, digital video and advanced networking. Our QuickSec toolkit and the TILE-Gx processor with its integrated MiCA encryption acceleration engines are a great combination, and the results are compelling.” The QuickSec toolkit is the industry’s most mature and feature-rich IPsec solution, incorporating support for virtually all of the Internet Engineering Task Force’s Request for Comments for IP-layer security, including ESP, AH, IKEv1, IKEv2, MOBIKE, EAP, and many others. QuickSec has been licensed to hundreds of the world’s leading networking, telecom and computing companies and is recognized for its interoperability with systems ranging from VPN security appliances to client machines. Some of the key features of the QuickSec 5.2 toolkit include:
