Calxeda Establishes Subsidiary and Distributor Network In AsiaCalxeda Asia Ltd. and Local Distributor Partnerships Support Growing EnergyCore Customer Base AUSTIN, Texas – June 4, 2012 – Calxeda, Inc., today announced the opening of Calxeda Asia Ltd., and the establishment of a distributor network throughout Asia via Macnica, Inc., subsidiaries Galaxy Far East Corporation, Cytech Technology Limited, and Altima Corporation. This expanded presence in Asia will support Calxeda’s growing Asia-Pacific business through direct technical and sales support for Calxeda’s ARM-based EnergyCore server-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions and EnergyCard production-ready multi-node clusters. EnergyCore clusters can provide a ten-fold reduction in power usage and 50 percent cost savings for data center workloads such as Web 2.0, cloud and data-intensive computing while delivering the same throughput of traditional implementations. Calxeda is a leader in the low-power server market and demonstrated a Calxeda cluster running Ubuntu 12.04 and several workloads at Ubuntu Developer’s Summit in Oakland, CA, in May. “Asian ODMs, OEMs, and datacenters are at the forefront of innovation and new technology adoption, and demand for Calxeda’s products is escalating quickly,” said Aaron Grassian, Calxeda’s Director of Asia Pacific Sales and Business Development. “Macnica and its subsidiaries are respected leaders in technology sales, and Calxeda is pleased to partner with Macnica’s network to provide the best support possible to our customers in Asia.” Johnny Chan, CEO of Cytech Technology Ltd. and CEO of Macnica Asia Pacific added, “Macnica seeks to partner with companies that provide true technical advantages that customers demand and appreciate. We believe that Calxeda is leading the industry’s transition to more power- and cost-efficient datacenters, and we are delighted to work together as Calxeda’s business ramps throughout Asia.” “Power supply is limited in Japan because the nuclear reactors were 100 percent shut down after the quake, but data center needs are rapidly growing,” noted Akinobu Miyoshi, President of Altima Corp. “Calxeda’s solution will be the key technology to overcome this situation in Japan.” Macnica, Inc., will support Calxeda through its subsidiaries including Galaxy Far East Corporation in Taiwan, Cytech Technology Limited in Hong Kong, Mainland China, and Singapore, and Altima Corporation in Japan. Calxeda will be showing a live EnergyCore cluster in ARM Technologies’ suite at Computex 2012, beginning June 5. Additionally, John Mao of Calxeda will be speaking today at ITRI’s Low-Power Ecosystem and Solutions Workshop hosted by the Cloud Computing Association of Taiwan.
