Parthus Technolologies Announces the Launch of Wireless-LAN Platform Targeting the 802.11 MarketIn8Stream™ uniquely combines multi-mode 802.11a, b and g standards in one flexible, low cost, low power architecture. San Jose, Calif. - April 25, 2002 - Parthus Technologies (Nasdaq: PRTH, LSE: PRH), a leading provider of platform-level intellectual property targeting the mobile Internet, today announced the launch of In8Stream™, an 802.11 multi-mode wireless local area network (WLAN) platform. In8Stream™ targets the entire range of IEEE 802.11 WLAN standards (a, b, g, e, i) through one flexible architecture and is based upon PacketGenie™ technology from Telematix - a leading developer of multi-protocol wireless networking technology. "The world of wireless local area networking for the home, office and various public hotspot environments (such as airports, malls, coffee-shops), as targeted by Parthus' 802.11 technology, is one of the fastest growing segments of the communications industry," said Allen Nogee, Senior Analyst of Wireless Technology with Cahners-in-Stat. "We estimate that the number of 802.11 chipsets will grow rapidly from the 15 million to be shipped this year, to over 50 million shipping annually by 2005." In8Stream™ is the industry's most complete and innovative 802.11 intellectual property platform. The IEEE compliant platform incorporates a multi-mode 802.11 a/b/g MAC hardware core, a complete software stack for Station or Access Point applications and 802.11 a/b/g multi-protocol baseband core. The In8Stream™ flexible architecture supports data rates between 1Mbs and 54Mbs and does not require a royalty bearing processor core for the MAC or baseband modem functions. The combination of a multi-mode architecture, minimal on-chip memory requirements (In8Stream™ shares host system memory and does not require external memory), and reduced silicon die size (Parthus estimates In8Stream™ designs are less than half the size of multi-protocol implementations) translates into a significant reduction in costs for 802.11 products. The compact In8Stream™ architecture also delivers superior energy consumption performance over alternative solutions, making the platform particularly well suited for battery operated devices like PDAs, laptops and hand-held computers. In addition to supporting all current 802.11 standards (a/b/g), In8Stream™ is architected for future generation 802.11 standards. Parthus intends to support the IEEE 802.11 h/i/e standards (power management, security, quality of service/multimedia streaming) - enabled through software updates. Kevin Fielding, president of Parthus said, "With our BlueStream platform, Parthus has established itself as the number one licensor of Bluetooth W-LAN technology. We expect that our In8Stream™ platform for the 802.11 W-LAN market, with its compelling multi-protocol capability in one low cost, low power architecture, will enable Parthus to establish similar market leadership in the fast growing 802.11 market." In8Stream™ joins the portfolio of Parthus technology platforms which deliver complete intellectual property solutions for applications such as Bluetooth, GPS, 3G W-CDMA and Microsoft/Symbian based Smartphones/PDAs. Licensees can combine the In8Stream™ 802.11 platform with the Parthus portfolio opening up a wealth of innovative new product opportunities such as dual mode 802.11/Bluetooth and 802.11/3G modems, and/or 802.11 connected smartphone, PDA or Internet appliance. In8Stream™ is available for immediate license today. Licensees are supported by an extensive development environment and verification suite. ### About 802.11 802.11 is a family of specifications for wireless local area networks (WLANs) developed by a working group of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). There are currently three specifications in the family: 802.11, 802.11a and 802.11b. The most recently proposed standard, 802.11g (which will be added late this year), offers wireless transmission in the 2.4 GHz ISM band at data rates up to 54 megabits per second (Mbps) compared with the 11 megabits per second of the 802.11b standard. About Parthus For further information about Parthus. About PacketGenie™ Telematix Corporation has developed a unique packet processing technology called PacketGenie™ which has been optimized for multi-protocol wireless networking applications. PacketGenie™ along with the accompanying software stack provides a flexible multi-protocol MAC and baseband implementation, which can be configured to work with all planned variants of the 802.11 standard. PacketGenie™ based designs are up to 75% smaller in silicon die-size and consume a fraction of the power of traditional DSP- and CPU- based implementations. About Telematix Telematix Corporation is a leading developer of secure, high-performance and robust multi-protocol technology for wired and wireless communication applications. Telematix's initial products are focused on wireless local area networking for the home and enterprise markets. Telematix is driving the evolution of next generation WLAN technologies by extending the range of wireless networks while maintaining an unsurpassed level of link reliability. Telematix's technology makes it possible to use unlicensed band wireless technology to simultaneously deliver voice, video and data to multiple clients within a single network.
