Radiant Increases Video Capacity 100x Using IndigoVision TechnologyNew licensing agreement will combine live networked video with IP-over-fiber networks EDINBURGH, UNITED KINGDOM and MASSAPEQUA, NY, April 30th, 2002 - IndigoVision Group plc (LSE: IND), a leader in live networked video technology, today announced that it has licensed its VideoBridge technology to Radiant Communications Corporation, a leading U.S. provider of fiber optics and network solutions. Radiant will now use VideoBridge technology to send video and audio over LAN/WAN and fiber-optic links in applications ranging from surveillance to telecommunications, video distribution and distance learning. Instead of having to run a fiber for each stream of video, the VideoBridge technology lets Radiant send hundreds of streams of video and audio down a single fiber, saving money and providing a better service for its customers. This deal follows several months of Radiant successfully deploying IndigoVision's turnkey VideoBridge products for use within traffic management and remote monitoring systems. Radiant can now design and manufacture its own branded solutions based on VideoBridge technology, and incorporate them into its product line. "This deal builds on IndigoVision's success in the security and monitoring market, and opens doors to a whole new range of market opportunities," said Oliver Vellacott, IndigoVision's CEO. "Radiant's extensive U.S. customer base and experience in networking, application development and fiber-optic networks makes them an ideal partner." IndigoVision's VideoBridge technology enables Radiant to use Internet Protocol (IP) to send video and audio with other information over LAN/WAN and fiber-optic networks. IndigoVision's advanced compression and real-time video expertise allow Radiant to put hundreds of VHS-quality video and audio streams down a single 1Gbps fiber. This lets surveillance and traffic monitoring applications, which were previously restricted to a single camera, to upgrade to multiple cameras. Rather than watching a single camera on a TV, Radiant customers will be able to watch any camera on an IP-connected PC or PDA. According to Jack Fitzsimmons, vice president of sales, Radiant Communications Corporation: "IndigoVision's networked video technology has proven to be both robust and scaleable, which is a critical factor in our business. The company is giving us great support and we expect live networked video will be an increasingly significant part of our business." About IndigoVision Group plc About VideoBridge™ Software & Hardware Applications include security, distance learning, process monitoring, access control, entertainment and business communication. VideoBridge technology can switch in real-time between multiple industry-standard protocols for compression, transmission and recording, so that a VideoBridge powered product can span multiple video applications For further information Michelle O'Riordan |
