"Parthus already has a notable track record within the Bluetooth industry, and we are taking this opportunity to further re-inforce our position as the industry's number one supplier." "Initiatives such as BlueStream™ IP on CD indicate our commitment to provide ease of entry for organisations into specific focused market segments. Our approach affords them several significant competitive advantages with enhanced development cycles, low risk, lower cost, higher performance and faster time to market", said Farnan. Based on the success of the BlueStream™ platform, Parthus have decided to extend their reach into the 802.11 arena. Parthus' IEEE 802.11 compliant IP solution, In8Stream™, incorporates a multi-mode b/a/g MAC Hardware core, a complete software stack for station or access point applications and 802.11b/a/g multi-protocol baseband core. In addition to supporting all current 802.11 standards, In8Stream™ is architected for future generation 802.11 standards. Parthus plans to support the IEEE 802.11 i/e/h standards (Security, quality of service and power management) About Bluetooth Bluetooth is rapidly becoming the de facto standard for wireless communication between a range of personal electronic devices such as mobile phones, handheld devices, PC peripherals, automotive, home and industrial appliances. By eliminating the need for cables between inter-connecting devices, individuals can share voice and data using broadband and secure local wireless connections. By 2005, Cahners In-Stat forecasts that Bluetooth technology will be used in almost 780 million devices, ranging from mobile phones and desktop computers to digital cameras and automobiles. The Bluetooth trademarks are owned by Bluetooth SIG Inc., USA. About 802.11 802.11 is a family of specifications for wireless local area networks (WLANs) developed by a working group of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). There are currently three specifications in the family: 802.11, 802.11a and 802.11b. The most recently proposed standard, 802.11g (which will be added late this year), offers wireless transmission in the 2.4 GHz ISM band at data rates up to 54 megabits per second (Mbps) compared with the 11 megabits per second of the 802.11b standard.
