Novel Features of new Multi-Channel Video Processor on show at NAB

April 9, 2014 -- A new version of the OSVP Scalable Video Processor IP block for Xilinx FPGAs from video-processing specialist OmniTek offers a range of novel features that are sure to be of interest to video-system designers who visit the NAB Show.

Among the features of the new OSVP 2.0 block are:

• Support for 4Kx2K resolution up to 60Hz frame rate
• User-definable 6-axis Colour Space Correction, offering RGB/YUV Gain & Lift, overall Brightness level and Saturation level control, and Hue Rotation
• An enhanced patent-pending De-interlacer algorithm with best in class diagonal interpolation at low angles
• Noise Reduction
• Image Sharpening and pre-filtering controls
• Frame-based register update, facilitating smooth animated transitions

The core is shown in operation on OmniTek's OZ745 Video Development Platform using a new high speed FMC module that supports DisplayPort 1.2 and dual 6G-SDI inputs and outputs.

As well as being available for evaluation and licensing, OSVP 2.0 is already proving its worth as a key component of OmniTek's new Ultra 4K Tool Box, which is also being launched on the company's booth at NAB. This Tool Box provides conversion, analysis and generation of Ultra HDTV and Digital Cinema signals in all current and anticipated 4K formats up to 4096 x 2160/60p, and has already attracted orders at the company's Basingstoke, UK headquarters.

The novel features of the new OSVP video processor block are particularly evident in the facilities the new Tool Box offers for Up, Down & Cross Conversion, 6-axis Colour Correction (RGB and YUV) and Dynamic Crop and Zoom.

The OSVP 2.0 IP block's ability to convert between a wide range of connection and image formats makes it a valuable addition to multi-format design environments, while the company's experience of developing 4K video analysis and conversion equipment makes OmniTek a valuable consultancy partner in developing turnkey systems and designs for the emerging 4K market.
