Denali’s New CellularRAM Memory Simulation Models to Speed Development of 2.5G and 3G Handset DesignDenali's Model allows designers to design an advanced cell phone circuit with the CellularRAM and when the memory is in production have a chip ready to use it Palo Alto, California--July 22, 2002 Denali Software, Inc., the leader in memory system design and verification, today announced the availability of high-performance simulation models for recently announced CellularRAM memory. Micron Technology, Inc., [NYSE: MU] and Infineon Technologies [DAX/NYSE: IFX] both anticipate shipping CellularRAM memory to customers within twelve months. CellularRAM memory, a pseudo static RAM, addresses the high bandwidth and capacity needs of next-generation 2G and 3G handset designs. CellularRAM memory provides the most cost effective solution combining SRAM performance with the higher densities of DRAM, CellularRAM memory is a pin-compatible, refresh free, extremely low power drop-in replacement for SRAMs now used in handset designs. Denali developed the CellularRAM memory models using its SOMA™ modeling technology. Denali released these models on a limited basis to developers of components for cellular designs. ARM Ltd. of Cambridge, UK, is one company that accessed Denali CellularRAM memory models earlier this year. ARM has used Denali memory models to aid development of its latest generation of memory controller IP for the ARM® PrimeCell® peripheral product range. "We have verified the operation of our memory controllers with various memory devices using Denali memory models," said John Slater, PrimeCell Program Manager at ARM. "Our newest PL093 memory controller interfaces a variety of asynchronous and synchronous RAM, ROM, and flash memories including the new CellularRAM. The advantage of Denali Models for us is that we know how to use them. They are easy to integrate into our tool flow and we trust them. On recent memory controller projects, the models saved us time, engineering resources, and enabled us to deliver our IP ahead of the availability of some of the memories it supports."
