Dream Chip Technologies Supports ARM's Free Access to Cortex-M0 Processor IPGarbsen -- November 11th, 2015 -- Dream Chip Technologies (DCT) today announced its support for the ARM® Cortex®-M0 processor which is now available through ARM's DesignStart Portal. Through this portal, ARM is making it far easier to design, prototype and produce system-on-a-chip (SoC) components by offering free pre-commercialization use of ARM Cortex-M0 processor IP. Dream Chip Technologies (DCT) has designed a large number of very complex multimedia Systems-on-Chips (SoC) for many customers and applications using high-end ARM processor IP cores. The Internet of Things (IoT) or, as it is termed in Germany "Industry 4.0" demands ASIC developers to design very small and very low power ASICs. This new offer from ARM means that the advantages of ASIC designs will be now accessible to start-ups and small to medium-sized companies with designs in the volume of 10,000 to 100,000 units. With its expertise in ARM technology, Dreamchip is ideally placed to help customers create low power, highly optimized ASICs for IoT and Industry 4.0 applications, helping them achieve product differentiation and a lower BoM. There is an option to buy a $995 ARM Versatile Express FPGA development board, which ARM says will enable developers to create the prototype of a complete ASIC design. Companies who wish to use the ASIC designs for commercial production can purchase a standardized $40,000 license of the ARM Cortex-M0 processor. "With its strong industrial and automotive base, Germany is a key market for ARM," said Thomas Ensergueix, director, product marketing, CPU group, ARM. "By offering its design services and expertise, Dream Chip Technologies will help companies to efficiently create and bring to market compelling ARM-based SoCs for the Internet of Things and Industry 4.0 markets." "The new streamlined access to ARM Cortex-M0 helps start-ups and the smaller companies to quickly develop low-cost SoC designs for many new devices and applications in the IoT and M2M space," said Young-Hun Kluge, Vice President Sales, Dream Chip, "We are very experienced and well positioned to support our customers all the way down from specification to chip delivery."
