Pleora Expands Market-Proven GigE Vision IP Core with Xilinx FPGA SupportManufacturers can now access benefits of Xilinx and Altera FPGAs to reduce design time and costs of GigE Vision-compliant imaging products OTTAWA, CANADA -- November 30, 2015 -- Pleora Technologies, the world’s leading supplier of high-performance video interfaces, today increased design flexibility for imaging device manufacturers by expanding its market-proven GigE Vision® IP core platform to include support for field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) from both Xilinx and Altera. Select customers are currently working with the new iPORT™ NTx-GigE IP Core Package running on Xilinx 7-Series FPGAs in imaging devices for medical, industrial, and defense applications, with broad availability scheduled for March 2016. “Expanding our field-proven IP core package to now include support for both Xilinx and Altera meets growing demand from camera and system manufacturers for more flexible solutions that simplify video connectivity,” said John Phillips, product management with Pleora. “With the iPORT NTx-GigE IP Core Package, manufacturers can easily integrate their custom logic with our imaging expertise to streamline the design of higher performance, lower cost solutions that address real-time video requirements across a breadth of markets.” Pleora’s IP core platform increases flexibility and reduces costs for manufacturers by providing a straightforward design path to integrate their logic with the iPORT NTx-GigE IP Core in a custom FPGA load. Designers can then utilize a single FPGA to perform pixel correction, color space conversion, and other specialized analysis tasks as well as incorporating GigE Vision functionality. Integrating multiple functions into a single FPGA results in electronics with reduced power consumption, heat generation, footprint, and component costs. The iPORT NTx-GigE IP Core is compliant with the GigE Vision standard to ensure cameras and other imaging devices interoperate seamlessly in complex multi-vendor systems, while GenICam compliance helps further cost-reduce development by allowing the same software applications to be used for different types of cameras and imaging products. In addition, manufacturers can use Pleora’s eBUS SDK (software development kit) to develop production-ready software that is easily ported to different designs, regardless of the underlying FPGA. Pleora’s iPORT NTx-GigE IP Core Package now supports Xilinx 7-Series FPGAs, and is fully compatible with the Enclustra Mars AX3 Evaluation Kit to enable fast prototyping and design, in addition to Altera Cyclone V FPGAs. The package also includes Pleora's encrypted IP core for a GigE Vision compliant video interface, Quartus II or Vivado project files, Qsys or IPI systems, a Gigabit Ethernet media access controller (MAC), and device configuration scripts to facilitate the automation of the programming process during production.
