Baikal Electronics Reveals Product RoadmapJanuary 28, 2016 -- Baikal Electronics, a Russian semiconductor company, has announced it will create high-performance ARM-based CPUs designed for future products ranging from embedded systems to personal computers and servers. The company’s roadmap covers the period until 2017 and includes three product lines in addition to the existing products. The CPUs, to be delivered before the end of 2017, will be manufactured using a 28nm process technology. Products delivered after 2017 will be based on 16nm technology. The new line of Baikal CPUs comprises:
The new processors stem from a partnership established in 2014 when Baikal Electronics licensed the 64-bit ARM Cortex®-A57 processor. “ARM is one of the fastest-growing CPU architectures in history. Using its advanced technologies we will be able to develop globally competitive microprocessors. We are working to ensure our products feature the most up-to-date technologies and interfaces,” said Svetlana Legostaeva, CEO for Baikal Electronics. “Baikal’s adoption of ARM technology for a broad range of solutions will add new energy-efficient compute platforms to their roadmap,” said James McNiven, general manager, CPU group, ARM. “We look forward to working closely with them as they utilize the strength of the ARM ecosystem to deliver advanced technologies for all markets they are targeting, including embedded systems, server and PCs.” Baikal Electronics develops energy-efficient microprocessors for computer systems and industrial applications. Earlier in 2015 Baikal Electronics presented engineering samples of a MIPS-based multicore SoC, Baikal-Т1, that has become the first original Russian offer for the mass IT market boasting highly competitive properties in terms of technology node, performance and compatibility.
