Motorola Invests in Morpho Technologies and Licenses Its Reconfigurable Technology
"Motorola's investment is further confirmation of Morpho Technologies' leadership in the reconfigurable DSP market," said Shahriar Sadri, Morpho Technologies' CEO. "The MS1 architecture has the power to revolutionize communication appliances and equipment, and our partnership with Motorola will result in unique products that offer tremendous value to the respective design communities." Morpho Technologies' MS1 architecture provides a reconfigurable array of individual DSP cells working together to provide a parallel-processing engine with the ability to service many of the most data intensive, real-time streaming functions. Some example applications include mobile communication systems, imaging engines, and multimedia processing products -- applications that were once reserved almost exclusively for ASIC logic. Morpho Technologies' unique reconfigurable DSP architecture provides the processing power of ASIC designs while reducing die size and maintaining low power consumption. "This investment and licensing agreement validates Morpho Technologies' position as a leader in the reconfigurable computing field and serves as an important milestone for programmable technology," said Warren Holtsberg, Corporate Vice President and Director of Venture Investing, Motorola, Inc. "The MS1 core complements the core technologies used in current Motorola products, and will enable us to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions for our customers."
