GlobalSign and Intrinsic ID Plan Joint Demos at Two Upcoming STMicroelectronics EventsDemos at ST DevCon, ST Tech Tour to showcase the companies’ joint offering: SRAM PUF and PKI-based Device Identity for IoT BOSTON, Mass. and SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 5, 2017 – GMO GlobalSign (www.globalsign.com), a global Certificate Authority and leading provider of identity and security solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT), and Intrinsic IDTM, the world’s leading provider of digital authentication technology for Internet of Things security and embedded applications, today announced they will jointly present demonstrations at two upcoming STMicroelectronics events, ST DevCon and ST Tech Tour. ST DevCon will be held Sept. 6 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, Calif. from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Intrinsic ID Chief Executive Officer Pim Tuyls will deliver a presentation entitled “SRAM PUF Key Provisioning: Vital to Today’s IoT” at 9:30 a.m. “As the Internet of Things approaches 50 billion devices with no slowdown in sight, IoT device manufacturers face immense pressure to ensure their products stay competitive,” said Tuyls. “Because an SRAM-PUF-based approach enables key provisioning at any point in the supply chain, it provides the device-appropriate security and use-case-affordable cost those manufacturers need.” A Physical Unclonable Function, or PUF, is a complex function derived from the natural physical properties which occur during a semiconductor’s production, properties that give the device a unique identity. Intrinsic ID created SRAM PUF, based on the behavior of standard SRAM memory available in any digital chip, to differentiate devices such as microcontrollers and derive a secret cryptographic key that serves as the foundation for a security subsystem. The second joint demo will take place at the ST Technology Tour at the Boston Marriott Newton in Newton, Mass. on Sept. 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the GlobalSign table on the Expo Floor. “The purpose of the demonstration is to show time-tested technologies like PKI can be used to solve the security and identity needs of next-generation IoT devices,” said Nisarg Desai, product manager of IoT, GlobalSign. “By combining GlobalSign’s PKI platform with Intrinsic ID’s PUF technology, we can truly enable a secure connected ecosystem with a Strong Device Identity for every IoT device.” Identity and trust are integral to IoT security. By offering every “Thing” a unique identity, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) should be the foundation of any IoT security strategy. As an established technology, PKI can enable the fundamentals of IoT security, authentication, encryption and integrity. GlobalSign offers a true IoT scalable Managed PKI solution that can meet the certificate demands of even the largest device manufacturers. In addition to the joint demo, Desai will present a talk at the ST Technology Tour in a session titled “Integrating strong security elements into your IoT Device Design.” The discussion will take place during Session Two from 11:10 a.m. to noon.
