ARM Expands Foundry Program
ARM Expands Foundry ProgramCAMBRIDGE, UK - September 5, 2001 - ARM [(LSE:ARM);(Nasdaq:ARMHY)], the industry's leading provider of 16/32-bit embedded RISC processor technology, today announced at the Embedded Systems Conference, Boston, that it has expanded the microprocessor cores available through the ARM Foundry Program with the addition of the ARM946E[tm] and ARM1022E[tm] solutions to the Program's offerings. By adding these two cores to its Foundry Program, ARM is able to offer OEMs a new level of choice and support when designing ARM® core-based devices for a wide range of applications. "ARM provides the broadest and most comprehensive partner network in the industry. This network consist of industry leaders in silicon and systems manufacturing, application software, development tools, operating systems, foundries and design houses," said Antonio Viana, director, Foundry Program, ARM. "It is important that every one of these partners is able to easily and efficiently gain access to our proven technology, enabling them to build better ARM Powered® products. ARM is committed to supporting this constantly growing network of Partners while also strengthening the ARM technology services and design expertise available to developers worldwide." About the ARM Foundry Program The Foundry Program offers a flexible partnership model that accelerates the time-to-market for ARM core-based designs and enables OEMs, which do not have access to fabrication facilities, to work directly with an approved ARM semiconductor foundry. Unlike a traditional ARM license, where a licensee gains both manufacturing and design rights, the ARM Foundry Program builds a three-way partnership between ARM, an approved silicon foundry, and an OEM.
