SafeNet Security Gives TI Industry's First On-Chip Security Hardware to Protect Wireless Transactions, Data Transmission
BALTIMORE, MD – February 11, 2003 – SafeNet (Nasdaq: SFNT), a leading provider of Internet security technology that is the de facto standard in the VPN industry, today announced that it's proven encryption platform is being used in five new OMAP™ processors being offered by Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI). SafeNet and TI have been working together to deliver the highest form of security to OMAP processors by utililizing SafeNet's hardware-based crypto cores and processor-based software.
TI's five new OMAP processors, the OMAP1610, OMAP1611, OMAP1612, OMAP730, and OMAP732 devices with on-chip security, increase the performance of advanced applications that include graphics, multimedia content, and Java as much as eight times while reducing standby current as much as ten times in wireless handsets and PDAs. With these new, secured application processors, mobile device manufacturers can design smaller, more secure, and more economical devices with longer battery life and faster multimedia applications.

The new OMAP devices address this issue as the first processors to feature comprehensive wireless security hardware, supplied using SafeNet technology, ensuring much stronger protection and faster security services for protecting the ownership rights of creative content or software, guarding confidential information and securing sensitive information transmission at speeds up to 90 times faster than existing software implementations. SafeNet also provides its CGX suite of software libraries allowing TI OEMs and OMAP application developers to take advantage of the security built into the hardware.
