System-on-chip market set for 20% CAGR, says report SAN JOSE, Calif. -- The overall market for system-on-chip ICs is expected to experience a compound annual growth rate of 20 percent and grow from about $13.6 billion in 2002 to $34.7 billion in 2007, according to Electronic Trend Publications Inc. (ETP). San Jose-based ETP gives the numbers in the second edition of its report on 'System-on-Chip markets and trends'. In the executive summary of the report the company predicted that the worldwide IC market would advance by 10.4 percent from $120.5 billion in 2002 to $130.1 billion in 2003 before growing 15.3 percent in 2004 to a market size of $153.5 billion. Thereafter ETP predicts the market will fall back before advancing again to reach $169.5 billion in 2007. ETP divides the market for System-on-Chip devices into five sectors; computers, communications, consumer, industrial and transportation, but does not give any exact figures for each segment in the executive summary. The market f or third-party cores and libraries is expected to grow from about $900 million in 2002 to about $1300 million in 2007.
