GDA Technologies and Xilinx Co-develop Industry’s First HyperTransport Compatibility Test PlatformThe HyperTransport Consortium, the non-profit industry organization that manages the HyperTransport technology specification, has adopted the HT8000 for its HyperTransport compatibility testing program.
SAN JOSE, CA – June 2, 2003 – GDA Technologies, Inc., a fast growing supplier of Intellectual Property and Electronic Design Services, and Xilinx (NASDAQ:XLNX), the worldwide leader of programmable logic solutions, today announced the availability of the HT8000, the industry's first HyperTransport Compatibility Test Platform. The HT8000 was co-developed by GDA and Xilinx in support of the HyperTransport Consortium's Compatibility Program (http://hypertransport.org/compatibility.html). The HT8000 allows semiconductor and system companies to accelerate the development and deployment of their HyperTransport based systems by streamlining design-in, test, validation, and compatibility testing of HyperTransport-based devices. The HyperTransport Consortium, the non-profit industry organization that manages the HyperTransport technology specification, has adopted the HT8000 for its HyperTransport compatibility testing program. The HT8000 is a powerful tool for designers tasked with conforming to the latest HyperTransport specification and delivering silicon and systems to market quickly and successfully.
The HyperTransport compatibility platform is equipped with a Virtex- II™ FPGA from Xilinx and provides two 16-bit HyperTransport interfaces to allow testing of host, tunnel, switch or cave based HyperTransport configurations. The platform also provides a 16-bit SPI-4.2 and Gigabit Ethernet interface, extending its use to validate cores that bridge HyperTransport, SPI-4.2 and Gigabit Ethernet technologies.
The management portion includes a CPU subsystem using a Motorola MPC8245 PowerQUICC II processor supported by 8MB Flash Memory, 128 MB SDRAM, and a serial port. The HyperTransport Interfaces use male and female connectors from Samtec (QSE and QTE connectors), that are compliant with the HyperTransport Consortium connector definition for Device-Under-Test, allowing any HyperTransport device or subsystem to be linked to the HT8000. Theis HT8000 platform provides a test fixture socket compatible with the FuturePlus Systems HyperTransport Analysis probe for the Agilent Logic Analyzer. GDA also provides a full Embedded Linux Operating System Port kit on this platform.
"The HyperTransport compatibility platform will help the rapid deployment of HyperTransport technology by Solution Providers and OEMs in the market place. We are delighted to be the first companies to offer this unique platform in the market and to win the endorsement of the HyperTransport consortium," said Gopa Periyadan, vice president and General Manager of System and Software Design Business Unit at GDA.
"Xilinx is using the HT8000 platform for hardware validation and interoperability testing of our own HyperTransport cores. The platform is an ideal tool to demonstrate interoperability with industry leaders, provides us with a great tool to shorten our validation cycles thereby reducing customer time to market," said Ron DiGiuseppe, senior marketing manager of System Interfaces in the IP Solutions Division at Xilinx.
GDA has worked closely with Xilinx and the HyperTransport Cconsortium during the definition and design stages of The HT8000. GDA will be responsible for production and support of the HT8000. Both GDA and Xilinx are members of the HyperTransport Consortium.
GDA is a leading worldwide provider of comprehensive set of HyperTransport IP cores. GDA HyperTransport IP offerings include Host, Bridge, Tunnel and Cave. These re-useable IP blocks enable networking, cCommunication, embedded applications, and PC companies to easily integrate HyperTransport I/O technology in their high-performance IC designs. As part of the IP licensing package, GDA provides extensive set of documentations and support to minimize a customer's time to market, risk, and development costs.
