Mentor Graphics USB On-the-Go Intellectual Property Achieves Compliance CertificationWILSONVILLE, Ore., August 27, 2003 - Mentor Graphics Corporation today announced that two of its Universal Serial Bus (USB) On-The-Go (OTG) intellectual property (IP) cores achieved compliance certification at the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) Compliance Workshop held in Milpitas, Calif. July 29 to Aug. 1. This was the first opportunity to test the Mentor Graphics® Full Speed (MUSBFDRC) and Hi-Speed (MUSBHDRC) Dual Role Controllers against the OTG standard. Certification validates the quality of Mentor Graphics IP and allows developers to integrate the company's cores with the utmost confidence, enabling the rapid creation of OTG applications. USB-IF Compliance Workshops are held regularly to promote USB product development, validate product compliance with the specification, help foster communication between product manufacturers and ensure that USB Peripherals operate together. The three-day event evaluates products against the standard for Full Speed OTG with exacting tests for device interoperability, as well as ensuring strict electrical and protocol compliance. Mentor Graphics tested its MUSBFDRC core on an ARM Integrator platform with an AMBA bus interface and on an 8051-based reference platform with a VCI interface. For interoperability testing, the platforms ran the new Mentor Graphics embedded OTG stack, providing application-level support in both host and peripheral modes of operation. In addition to this, the MUSBHDRC core was tested for Full Speed OTG device compliance. In all tests, the cores achieved full certification. "Mentor Graphics is committed to ensuring that all its cores are certified compliant by the respective standards bodies," said Michael Kaskowitz, general manager of the Mentor Graphics Intellectual Property Division. "At the first opportunity for certification, our cores and software passed all the required compliance tests, validating the quality of the IP and embedded software that we deliver."
