Faraday and ARM Announce New Partnership
TAIPEI, TAIWAN and CAMBRIDGE, UK - June 14, 2001- Faraday Technology Corp [(Faraday) (Hsin-Chu, Taiwan)] and ARM [(LSE:ARM); (Nasdaq:ARMHY)], the industry's leading provider of 16/32-bit embedded RISC microprocessor solutions, announced today that Faraday has become a design licensee under the ARM Foundry Program. Initially, designs will be based on the ARM7TDMI® core, the ARM922T[tm] core and the ARM946E[tm] core microprocessors.
"ARM is the most successful silicon IP provider in the world and we are pleased to enter into this agreement," said H.P. Lin, president, Faraday. "For a long time, Faraday has been working with low-power RISC CPUs and the SoC design service business model will enable a total ASIC solution that contains ARM® technology."
This agreement will further promote ARM core IP in the embedded industry and help to bring a new generation of ARM core-based solutions to market faster, while enabling Faraday to provide a new level of system-on-chip (SoC) devices. Faraday provides silicon IP, ASIC and design services to its customers, which range from design house start-ups to international, industry-leading system companies.
"By combining Faraday's service strengths with the ARM Partnership business model, we will reinforce our commitment to providing our Partners with the industry's leading embedded RISC microprocessor IP," said Jamie Urquhart, chief strategy officer, ARM. "We are looking forward to further collaboration with Faraday in the future."
