Netergy Microelectronics Sells Video Semiconductor AssetsSANTA CLARA, Calif., November 19, 2003 -- Netergy Microelectronics, Inc., a subsidiary of 8x8, Inc. (NASDAQ: EGHT), and Leadtek Research, Inc., announced today that Leadtek has acquired Netergy's VIP1 video semiconductor development effort. The VIP1 is an H.264 enabled voice and video-over-packet (VVoP) processor targeted for IP video communication applications. The VIP1 provides superior voice and video processing performance and versatile interfaces in a highly integrated, low cost semiconductor solution, while providing the flexibility desired for customer product differentiation. Under the terms of the acquisition agreement, Leadtek acquired the VIP1 development activities, key engineers, software tools and equipment. "Leadtek and Netergy have been working together for many years on video communications, " said K. S. Lu, Leadtek's CEO. "Acquiring the VIP1 project is a natural evolution of our efforts to provide our customers with the best video communication appliances possible."
