Verisity Announces Xtreme Server, Next-Generation Multi-Session Acceleration/Emulation SolutionXtreme Server Enables World Class Ease-of-Use, Performance, and ROI for Up to 12 Simultaneous Users MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – May 24, 2004 – Verisity Ltd. (Nasdaq:VRST), the leading supplier of Verification Process Automation (VPA) solutions, today announced a new multi-session, next-generation acceleration and emulation solution that meets the requirements for high-performance chip- and system-level verification. The Xtreme® Server greatly improves verification productivity and customers' return on their investments by enabling up to 12 users or projects to run on one centralized system simultaneously. This unique capability enables project teams to share unused emulation capacity and reduce their total cost of ownership for the hardware. The Xtreme Server is the third-generation of the ultra-compact Xtreme family to provide emulation performance and simulation flexibility with a unified database, all in a single system. Xtreme Server is the industry's first event-based hardware verification solution that offers multi-session, multi-level verification that is very easy-to-use and extremely high performance. In other news today, Verisity announced SpeXtreme™, a new high-performance chip- and system-level verification solution that combines Specman Elite, Xtreme-II, the e RCC compiler and Xsim into a single integrated solution [see related press release dated May 24, 2004, "Verisity Offers SpeXtreme for High Performance Chip- and System-level Verification"]. The Xtreme Server, which integrates software simulation, simulation acceleration and in-circuit emulation, enables teams to leverage unused hardware capacity for other team members or projects, thereby reducing time-to-market and increasing productivity. It supports all levels of abstraction concurrently throughout the verification flow, including RTL and behavioral-level hardware descriptions and embedded software. The server also delivers up to one million cycles per second and capacity up to 50 million gates and 12 GBytes of memory. The Xtreme Server is extremely easy-to-use, offering an integrated simulation-like debugging environment with full node visibility and history, and hot swapping between software simulation and hardware-assisted modes. The server also works with XoC, a pre-packaged verification solution for HW/SW co-verification and supports an in-circuit verification (ICV) methodology. ICV is an integrated process, offering several in-circuit emulation interface solutions. The Xtreme Server can be connected directly to a target system via three modes: in-circuit emulation, in-circuit acceleration and in-circuit simulation. In-circuit emulation maximizes in-circuit runtime performance and offers enhanced debugging capabilities. In-circuit acceleration provides the ability and freedom to mix software and hardware models, while in-circuit simulation is most useful during initial target bring-up and for verifying and debugging interface modules and in-circuit interfaces. "The Xtreme Server lowers the total cost of ownership as it can be used in multiple configurations by multiple users. This allows multiple teams or projects to share unused emulation capacity," said Michael Young, director of product marketing for Verisity. "This unique capability increases customers' return on their verification investments with optimized resource utilization. With the Xtreme Server, we are delivering a high-performance verification system that scales with our customers' project needs and reduces overall cost and system maintenance." "The Xtreme Server has improved our verification throughput dramatically as it enables us to parallelize different aspects of our project simultaneously," said Masao Kuribayashi, General Manager, SOC Technology Department, Research and Development Division, Corporate R&D Center for Olympus. "By adopting the unique Re-Configurable Computing (RCC) technology of Xtreme Server, we improved our overall design productivity and maximized our return on investment by utilizing a unified verification environment for functional simulation, acceleration and emulation."
