Aware, Inc. Demonstrates the Latest ADSL Technologies at SuperComm 2004
HD video-over-ADSL2plus, Bonded ADSL2plus, and advanced ADSL2 diagnostics highlight show and focus on the reality of ADSL2/2plus “triple play”
Bedford, MASS. – June 22, 2004 – Aware, Inc. (NASDAQ:AWRE), a worldwide leader and innovator of broadband intellectual property, today announced it will be featuring the latest DSL technology demonstrations in its booth (#21729) at SuperComm 2004 this week in Chicago. High Definition Video-over-ADSLplus The highlight of Aware’s booth will be a live HD video-over-ADSL2plus demonstration, featuring an Alcatel 7300 Advanced Services Access Manager (ASAM) DSLAM and a StratiPHY2+™-based customer premise equipment (CPE) streaming video at rates up to 24 Mbps SuperComm attendees will witness the advantages of ADSL2plus interoperable equipment, which offers carriers a comprehensive voice/video/data triple-play service bundle and expands the telecom service portfolio beyond traditional POTS voice and high-speed Internet access to include exciting new competitive offerings. Bonded ADSL2plus Aware will show a live demonstration of bonded ADSL2plus.The demo will be compliant with the draft proposed American National Standard for ATM-based multi-pair bonding standard and consist of an Aware StratiPHY2+-based CPE connected to an ADSL2+ multi-port CO modem, and will show delivery of data rates of more than 40 Mbps over two regular phone lines. Bonded ADSL2plus combines ATM-layer bonding with ADSL2plus technology to increase customers’ data rates and can be implemented using off-the-shelf ADSL2plus chipsets and Aware bonding technology. StratiPHY2+ Aware recently announced that its StratiPHY2+ CPE digital chip has achieved interoperability with Alcatel's 7300 ASAM, reaching data rates in excess of 24 Mbps, which is a major industry milestone signaling that multi-vendor ADSL2/2plus interoperability and the arrival of advanced services over DSL is a reality today. Aware also announced a licensing agreement with Atmel Corporation, who will be using StratiPHY2+ as the basis for its new system-on-ship communication products for ADSL2/2plus WAN and LAN connectivity. Dr. DSL Software for ADSL2 Aware announced availability of its Dr. DSL® diagnostics software for use with ADSL2 and ADSL2plus-compliant access equipment. This software uses the built-in capabilities of the new ADSL2 compliant modems to troubleshoot outside plant physical layer problems that impact ADSL, including far-end bridged taps and wideband noise interference. The demonstration will show how by using Dr. DSL’s problem identification capability and rate reduction technology, field or centralized support staff can quickly determine if a line can be cost-effectively conditioned to support new high bandwidth services such as video.
