(NASDAQ: CEVA; LSE: CVA), the leading licensor of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) cores and communications solutions to the semiconductor industry, today announced that it has signed an agreement with Brillian Corporation (NASDAQ: BRLC) to develop a next-generation 720p and 1080p microdisplay controller chip. The new controller chip will be used with Brillian's patent-pending Gen II liquid-crystal-on-silicon (LCoS™) microdisplay technology in high-definition televisions (HDTVs) for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers. Brillian is leveraging its industry-leading position to develop and manufacture turnkey rear-projection, high-definition televisions for brand-name OEMs and retailers, who will sell the products under their own private labels. Future Brillian 720p and 1080p products will be based on the microdisplay controller SoC developed in conjunction with CEVA.
